Holding Strong: How U.S. Ethanol Producers are Achieving Profitability without VEETC
After it became clear last summer that the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit would not survive beyond 2011, industry opinions on the impact of the blender’s tax credit expiration were varied. Now, as the industry moves away from conjecture and towards a real understanding of the financial impact of a ‘post-VEETC’ reality, what are the findings? This panel of U.S. ethanol producers will share ‘from the field’ perspectives on maintaining plant profitability in the first two quarters of 2012 and beyond. Ethanol plant CEOs and general managers will share their early experiences in this new reality and will outline operational and financial strategies for staying not just on line, but in the black.

Intelligent Integration: Staging Advanced Biofuels Production at Existing Corn Ethanol Plant Sites
Several advanced biofuels ventures are targeting existing U.S. ethanol facilities for co-location and retrofit plays. Existing corn dry mills have robust infrastructure to move massive quantities of production inputs and outputs. In addition to ready-made access to land, roads, rail, energy and water, co-location allows producers to tap into critically important workforce synergies. Leveraging existing plant sites also enables producers to more readily organize grower support and build biomass supply chains. This panel will examine the progress and momentum of advanced biofuels projects that have discovered the fertile ground of existing ethanol plants and are working in concert with those host facilities to bring next generation biofuels to commercial reality.
